Application Security Test

An application security test aims to check the security level of a rich application.

This test is often required before the release of an application that needs to be in accordance with legal standards such as the ISO 27001 and PCI/DSS.

Generally, the test follows two specific steps :

  • black box testing: our security experts do not have access to the source code, logins and technical information about the software. 
  • grey box testing: our security experts have user accounts with the application in order to check the security once they are logged in.

The test, the techniques and the whole process are different, depending on the kind of application.

Another category of application test exists: white box testing. Unliked the black box testing, it is done in a cooperative way and based on a source code audit.
